Market Background
As the fastest growing daily chemical market in Southeast Asia, Indonesia’s annual consumption of laundry detergent exceeds 1.2 million tons. 2025, the leading local manufacturer of cleaning products is facing capacity bottlenecks. Its traditional packaging line was inefficient, with an error rate of 2.3%, and could not meet the emerging demand for environmentally friendly packaging.
When approached at the Jakarta Industry Forum, the customer had the following requirements:
Multi-size production: 200g family packs to 5kg commercial packs needed to be handled simultaneously. Existing equipment changeover took 90 minutes
Environmental compliance: PLASTIK PAKET RAMAH LINGKUNGAN will be mandated by the Indonesian government in 2024, requiring 60% biodegradation of bags.
Energy Consumption Control: The original equipment consumed 18kW-h per ton of product, exceeding the industry benchmark by 30%.
Technical Solutions
Our customized automated packaging line integrates three innovative modules:
Intelligent dispensing system: adopting double servo spiral metering technology, realizing 200g-5kg stepless adjustment, compression of changeover time to 8 minutes (91% efficiency enhancement), and metering error ≤0.3%.
Environmental protection packaging unit: equipped with bio-based composite film bag-making machine, the degradation rate is measured to be 68% (exceeding the national standard by 13%).
Energy recovery unit: through the heat sealing waste heat recycling system, the power consumption per ton is reduced to 12.3kW-h (31.7% reduction)
Implementation Results
Key metrics were reached after the production line was commissioned in the third quarter of 2024:
Daily production capacity jumped from 48 tons to 82 tons (70.8% increase)
Packaging breakage reduced from 1.2% to 0.15%
Carbon footprinting results in annual carbon reduction of 136 tons for a single line (equivalent to planting 7,400 trees)
The Indonesian customer has now become a regional OEM partner of Unilever. This marks the strategic upgrade of the automated packaging line from single equipment export to technology and ecological export.
